Dialectical Behavior Therapy

Dialectical behavior therapy, or DBT, is a highly researched therapy that provides practical skills for everyday living. It helps increase the ability to regulate emotions by learning how to more accurately identify emotions and their intensities. It provides skills to more effectively communicate with others in getting needs met and in establishing and maintaining relationships. It also helps to increase the ability to tolerate difficult emotions and implement self-care routines to increase resilience and emotional strength.

With its core based on Mindfulness, it emphasizes living in the moment and teaches you how to build a life worth living versus one of just surviving. It gives you the skills for handling many of life's challenges with more grace and confidence than you may have thought possible.

It is a structured 6 month long program that covers skills pertaining to mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. It is composed of weekly individual therapy and a weekly skills building group.
